Holistic & Happy: Sitting Down with @HolisticRX
My excitement for this blog post is honestly UNREAL! I’m so excited to introduce you all to Bianca Klotsman of @HolisticRx! Bianca is a holistic nutritionist, health coach and wellness professional living in NYC. I’ve been following her religiously for quite some time and love doing so. On her account, you’ll find studio reviews and wealth of information on holistic living. She’s a sweetheart, shares amazing content and you can really tell that she’s totally passionate about what she’s doing.
In this interview, you’ll learn exactly what the hype of holistic nutrition is and what it means, Bianca’s workout regime (how could you not want to know this, her body is AMAZING), her go-to smoothie and MORE! Enough of my #girlcrush rant, let’s get to the good stuff!!
A Holistic Hello!
Hi Bianca!!! I’m honestly SO EXCITED to have you on the blog and pick your brain about ALL things health & wellness. I’ve been following you for quite some time, and know that recently you have decided to leave your 9-5 and pursue HolisticRX as a full-time gig. Can you tell the readers a bit more about who you are, your background and how you got to the place you are today?
A: You’re so sweet!! My first job out of school was a marketing gig for Time Warner which I stayed at for about 4 years. It was your standard 9-5, very corporate and very unexciting for me. About a year in, I knew that I wanted to pursue my true passion (nutrition), so I enrolled in IIN and became a health coach and holistic nutritionist.
Luckily for me, I grew up in a very holistic household where I wasn’t allowed to take any prescription medications (unless I was literally dying, LOL) and my mom made my brother and I drink green juice back in elementary school (before it was a thing). So, a lot of the course came very naturally to me.
I slowly began seeing clients and created my Instagram with the intention of providing healthy eating tips and recipes to my audience. It quickly grew into a platform for all things wellness and I went with it! I still see clients, work with various brands that I’m passionate about and review fitness studios.
Breaking Down Holistic Nutrition…
Q: I love it! I know I love seeing everything you’re eating and where you’re working out always – your insta honestly KILLS it! On the topic of wellness and having a holistic approach, can you explain exactly what holistic nutrition is in basic terms for those who aren’t privy?
A: Holistic Nutrition focuses on a natural approach to a healthy diet. I believe in eating a whole food diet and don’t count calories or macros. If your body is getting all of the nutrients it needs from food, then you will naturally shed pounds, get clear skin, gain mental clarity, natural energy and feel your best! Holistic nutrition truly focuses on the term “food is medicine”.
Diving Into the Workout Plan..
Q: Absolutely LOVE that approach. Honestly, who has time to count calories or macros, TBH? Food really should be medicine and I am obsessed with that approach. Your body definitely shows the good it does! You’re also ALWAYS mixing up your workouts. What does your typical workout routine look like, and if you had to choose one workout to rely on, what would it be and why?
A: I really don’t have a specific workout routine. I love low impact classes such as pilates and any sculpting workout that involves light ankle weights and a yoga mat. I used to think that I needed an intense and sweaty workout to lose weight, but instead my body bulked and I was constantly hungry from exerting so much energy, therefore I ended up gaining weight. This doesn’t mean that high intensity workouts won’t work for you- but it’s important to find a routine that works for your body.
Q: VERY true! It’s so important to listen to what is going to work for you. Wellness is definitely not a one size fits all type thing! On the topic of workouts, I have to ask because your abs are honestly INSANE. What is your go-to core workout?
A: I actually have an at-home ab routine that I do a few times a week. I’ll be releasing it in a few months along with a meal plan for a flat tummy! 🙂
But what is Bianca Snackin’ On?!
Q: STOP! That is so exciting, I cannot WAIT to see that and congrats!! I’ve mentioned so many times, but I truly believe that in order to look and feel your best, it’s not just the workouts that you’re doing. To feel your best, it’s also being conscious of what you’re putting into your body. What does your typical day look like in regards to eating?
A: I’m a huge believer in this!
It truly is 80% diet, but I also believe in fueling your body properly for the specific workout you’re doing that day.
My diet changes daily, but in a typical day I’ll have a fully loaded green smoothie for breakfast, a huge salad with either a side of eggs or fish for lunch, some berries or an apple with nut butter as a snack and a homemade soup, mixed veggies or a salad with a lean protein for dinner. Some days I crave more carbs, so I’ll have a bowl of chickpea pasta with veggies or add sweet potatoes to my meal- it honestly all varies.
Q: Speaking of food, I’m always seeing you whip up smoothies that look delicious and have SO MANY benefits. What is your go-to smoothie recipe, and please also let us know the benefits of the ingredients and why you love them!
A: I love a good morning smoothie that’s actually good for you! My go-to recipe is:
& Let’s Get the Scoop on Holistic NYC…
Q: AMAZING – definitely making that for breakfast tomorrow! A little change of topic – you’re such a fun city gal & living in NYC, I see that you’re always out and about with your girlfriends doing new workouts or trying out new restaurants. Mainly for selfish purposes for when my girlfriends and I go to NYC (ha!) – what is your favorite workout studio to go to with your girls AND where is your favorite place to head for a guilt-free girls night?
A: This is tough one!! I love so many studios and have tons of favorite restaurants! I guess if I had to choose- Megan Roup’s Sculpt Society class + a meal at ABCV or The Butchers Daughter!
Where Does Bianca Look for #Fitspo?!
Q: Speaking of your girlfriends, I always love asking who inspires you in the wellness space. You’ve obviously got a huge influence yourself. Who do YOU look to for inspiration and guidance in growing your brand and knowledge?
A: OMG, another tough one! I love so many accounts!! I would say @Kelseywells and @sarahs_day are my girl crushes, but also my good friends- @sweatsandthecity, @kaleandkrunches and @ihartnutrition inspire me because I personally see how hard these babes work to grow their brands and inspire people everyday!
Q: Amazing! I can’t wait to check them all out. Last but certainly NOT least – where can everyone find you and follow YOU?! Because they NEED to 🙂
A: Follow me on Instagram @holisticrx and on my blog www.myholisticrx.com– YouTube channel coming soon (HolisticRX)!
Alright, so I know that you guys a RUNNING to go follow Bianca on Instagram if you don’t already, and I’m off to ensure that I have all of the ingredients on hand to make her green smoothie. Also, definitely going to hit up Megan Roup’s Sculpt Society class next time I’m in NYC!
