Maple Dijon Baked Salmon
OK I always try to cook salmon, and have never found quite the right way to do it…but I finally have! This maple dijon baked salmon is absolutely unreal, and the maple dijon is an amazing sauce/dressing to keep on hand afterwards for the week too. I’ve been putting it on EVERYTHING! Let’s dive into the details..
Baked Salmon Deets
The best part about this baked salmon is easily the maple dijon. It adds SO MUCH flavor, you’re going to love. Here’s what you need to do..
- Get the Good Salmon: My recommendation on buying salmon is always go for wild if you can. If it is farmed, then I prefer to go with the one that is raised in the ocean. I also always go for the deboned filet as well – trust me on this one! When it comes to fresh vs. frozen, fresh is typically my preferred, but you need to make it right away (like same day.) If you go with frozen, this can be more cost effective, but be sure to allow it time to thaw.
- Baked Salmon Specifics: Depending on the thickness of your filet, you may need to cook the salmon more or less. If it’s thicker, you could bake it up to 30 minutes, then broil for 5, but if it’s thinner you could bake it for as little as 15 minutes, then broil for 5. Keep an eye on it, because no one loves overdone salmon!
- Maple Dijon Sauce: Typically you see a honey mustard or honey dijon, but I switched it up and used maple instead of honey, as it has a slightly lower glycemic index. However, if you use honey, that’s great as well! I prefer a Manuka honey, which is definitely a superfood!
If you’re into this recipe, you may also check out my healthy coconut shrimp or baby bok choy, which would pair great as a side!
