Ultimate Self Care Guide
There is a lot of talk about self care, but what does it actually mean? To me, self care means loving yourself. It means putting your own needs first and tuning into what you truly need. As women, we’re guilty of putting everyone else before ourselves, but in all truth, we cannot be our best selves for our loved ones unless we’re taking care of ourselves first.
Self care is the LEAST selfish thing you can do! The biggest part of my self care routine are my daily morning rituals, which not only keep me healthy, but keep me sane as well. Carving out time for yourself daily is the most important thing you can do for yourself, and it doesn’t need to be anything crazy!
As mega babe Danika Brysha once said ‘pre-charge so that you don’t have to recharge.’
Morning Self Care Routine
- Snooze It: OK, not actually every morning, but ALWAYS, always make sure you’re getting enough sleep. This is the most important thing of them all!
- The Five Minute Journal: I’ve spoken about this at length, and will continue until the END OF TIME! It’s something that I just can’t stop talking about because of how life changing it was for me. On a daily basis, this journal is able to shift my perspective from any attitude to gratitude immediately. And that’s the only way to live!
- The Daily Stoic: Stoicism is something that I have adapted recently, and I’ve loved it. You’re assigned an excerpt daily to read on a life lesson. It makes you realize the importance of time, how small your problems truly are and so much more.
- Meditation: I love meditating for 5-10 minutes every day. It gets my head right and gets me ready for any stressful situation that may be thrown my way that day. I personally love the app Ten Percent Happier.
- Take Care of the Teeth: I know, I know, this should be in everyone’s routine, right? Ha! Just wanted to call this out because I love using a non-toxic, charcoal toothpaste followed by my tongue scraper. If you don’t have one, you need one immediately.
- Brighten Up Your Skin: This is by far my favorite part of my morning routine – taking care of my skin! If I don’t have time for it in the morning, you better believe it’s happening at night! My personal skincare of choice at the moment are Swisse Clay Masks. I love that there is such a variety – a Blood Orange Mask for brightening, a Manuka Honey Mask for detoxification, a Matcha Green Tea Mask for clarifying and Cranberry Mask for pore perfection!
- Get in Movement: This should come to no surprise that I always need some movement to start off my day. Not only is it good for you, but it makes me feel AMAZING. I personally am obsessed with Melissa Wood low impact pilates flows. Read more on that here.
- Get Hydrated!: Last & finally not least, I start my day off with 1L of water. Then, I move on to my morning tea. This is typically a matcha, Sakara Detox Tea or Green Tea with lots of lemon and inulin.

At the end of the day, self care is filling your cup up with things that fuel you. The things that fuel me the most don’t cost a thing: taking a walk with Nick, talking to my family, getting a good night’s sleep, etc. With that being said, enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and take care girlfriend!
