Just in time for your Labor Day BBQ, this Cauliflower Sweet Potato Salad is an absolute crowd pleaser! I’ve never been a fan of traditional potato salad, but this one just has a special touch to it – it’s amazing and everyone will love it! Bye, bye boring and hello FUN!

Cauliflower Sweet Potato Salad Specifics

This cauliflower sweet potato salad will forever replace your simple old potato salad – trust me! And it is full of delicious veggies and can easily be made vegan too! Here’s the deets:

  • Veggies: The base of the cauliflower sweet potato salad is a mix of steamed cauliflower and sweet potatoes. I typically prepare these in the microwave, but you could steam over the stove as well. We also added in some celery and onion to add some delicious crunch.
  • Sauce: Typically potato salad is made with mayonnaise, but we leveled this up by using avocado mayo. That being said, you can easily use a vegan mayo too to make it free of any eggs.
  • Spices: Now spices play an important roll in this dish. You’ll need a combination of dill, celery seed, paprika and garlic powder. There are a few other special ingredients that play into the delicious flavor too, check them out below!

As always, I like to provide nutrition information for my recipes, but I do like to caveat that I’m a big believer that if you’re putting quality ingredients into your food and body, you don’t need to worry about calories or tracking! I personally don’t track anything, but do whatever works for you!

Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower, chopped into 1 inch pieces and steamed
  • 1 large sweet potato (or 3 small), chopped into 1 inch pieces and steamed
  • 1/4 c celery, chopped
  • 1/4 c sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 cup avocado or vegan mayo
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 c dill pickle relish
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dill seed
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 1 tbsp green onions, diced (for topping)

Instructions

Potato Salad Time!

  1. Mix steamed sweet potato, cauliflower, onion and celery together in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate dish, mix the mayo, mustard, apple cider vinegar, pickle relish and seasonings until well combined.
  3. Toss mayo sauce with the sweet potato and cauliflower until well combined.
  4. Add diced green onion to garnish & enjoy!
