PurelyPope Healthy Hot Cocoa

Simple & Healthy Hot Cocoa

Is there anything more nostalgic then a hot cup of hot cocoa?! I think not! You know I had to put a little healthy twist on this to make it a healthy hot cocoa though! You’re going to want to cozy up next to the tree and sip on this for the rest of winter! Let’s dive into it..

Healthy Hot Cocoa Breakdown

The best part about this healthy hot cocoa is that it’s SIMPLE, one pan and you can make it within 5 minutes as soon as your craving hits. Here’s what you need..

  • Alternative Milks: For the base of the hot cocoa I used an unsweetened almond milk mixed with a full fat coconut milk (from the can) to make it super thick and creamy! It adds an extra layer of decadence to the mix.
  • Chocolate: DUH! We have to have some good chocolate in here for a good hot cocoa! I used a combination of unsweetened organic cocoa powder, as well as some vegan chocolate chips. I love these ones because they’re sweetened with monk fruit vs. sugar.
  • Sweeten it Up!: I went for monk fruit to sweeten up the hot cocoa. Again, I love monk fruit because it has zero glycemic index which means that it has no affect on your blood sugar, where as your typical sugar does! Some other low glycemic sweeteners that I love include stevia and coconut sugar.
  • Extras: To add a bit of extra flavor to the hot cocoa, I added in some pure vanilla extract, as well as a pinch of sea salt which brings out all of the flavors even better!

Lots of Love! x
