PurelyPope Sweet Chili Brussel Sprouts Recipe

Sweet Chili Brussel Sprouts

You know that I love veggies as much as the next gal, but sometimes the bland olive oil, salt and pepper just doesn’t do it for me! Hence, I’ve been playing around with different flavors and seasonings to spruce them up. These sweet chili brussel sprouts were a product of that sprucing up experiment that turned out so well! Read on!

Sweet Chili Brussel Sprouts Breakdown!

These brussel sprouts have the perfect mix of flavors – sweet, spicy, savory and salty. There truly is no better trio! Here’s how to get that amazing flavor combo:

  • Sweet: The sweetness in this special sauce comes from a combination of Coconut Aminos and Maple Syrup. Coconut aminos are made from the fermented sap of coconut palm and sea salt. The aminos are soy, gluten and wheat free, which makes it a great option. It’s also much lower sodium than a traditional soy sauce. Maple syrup on the other hand is great to use in place of sugar, seeing as it has about half of the glycemic index of sugar.
  • Spicy: The spice comes from none other than my favorite hot sauce, sriracha! Eating spicy foods has been known to help increase blood flow, so it’s a win for your taste buds and your bod!
  • Salty: This recipe uses everything but the bagel seeds, which are super salty and delicious. I always get the one from Trader Joe’s, but you could also buy in bulk as well and make my bagels or bagel bread, too!
  • Savory: Finally, the savory flavor comes from the sesame oil which is packed with antioxidants and great for anti-inflammatory purposes as well.

If you’re a big fan of asian cuisine, try out my low carb pad thai recipe – it’s a crowd favorite and something I make minimum once a week!
